WIKI Nettle leaf is an herb that has a long tradition of use as a coadjuvant remedy in the treatment of arthritis in Germany. Nettle leaf extract contains active compounds that reduce TNF-α and other inflammatory cytokines. [12][13] Nettle leaf has been shown to reduce TNF-α levels by potently inhibiting the genetic transcription factor that activates TNF-α and IL-1B in the synovial tissue lining the joint. [14]

Urtica dioica has been used internally in traditional Austrian medicine (such as tea or fresh leaves) for the treatment of disorders of the kidneys and urinary tract, gastrointestinal tract, locomotor system, skin, cardiovascular system, hemorrhage, influenza, rheumatism and gout . . [15]

Nettle is used in shampoo to control dandruff and is said to make hair brighter, so some farmers include a handful of nettles with feed for livestock. [16]

Nettle root extracts have been extensively studied in clinical trials in humans as a treatment for the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It has been shown that these extracts help relieve symptoms compared to placebo both by themselves [17] and when combined with other medicinal herbs. [18]

Because it contains 3,4-divanyltetrahydrofuran, bodybuilders use certain nettle extracts in an effort to increase free testosterone by occupying sex hormone-binding globulin. [19]

Like Old English Stiðe, the nettle is one of the nine plants that are invoked in the Anglo-Saxon spell of the Nine Herbs, recorded in the 10th century. It is believed that nettle is a galactagogue, a substance that promotes lactation. [20]

Urtication, or flagellation with nettles, is the process of deliberately applying nettles to the skin to cause inflammation. An agent so used is known as rubefaciente (something that causes redness). This is done as a popular remedy for rheumatism, which provides temporary pain relief. [21] The counteracting action to which this is attributed can often be preserved by preparing an alcoholic tincture that can be applied as part of a topical preparation (but not as an infusion) that drastically reduces the irritant action.

Extracts of Urtica dioica leaves can help with glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes who need to use insulin. [22] SEO my ebay found samples and other things
