Water aerobics is a great form of exercise for retirees because there is no stress on the joints when you are in the water.
Therefore, it offers a very good cardiovascular training and toning wise, while not hurting your body in any way. Good?
Therefore, when you are doing exercises for seniors you can do things that is very simple like running water. Good? You can do things that tone the arms here, here. Good?
You can do a chest stroke. Swim. Or you can use the weights if you are at the height of the weights. Good. And that offers very good training as well.
There are lots of exercises you can do with the noodles. You can do an exercise called the bicycle with the noodle. You can do leg lifts using noodles next. Good?
And to pump a little more, you can also use a weight belt. Good. This will keep you afloat in the water while doing all your exercises.
One common exercise I do in my seniors classes is pushup. Good? It's not like a pushup on the ground. It is, but it is much easier.
So what you do is get to the side of the wall. You want to put your hands a little more than the width of the shoulders. And you're going to bend over and push it out. Lean and push out. So, that is the water pushout and it really is great for strengthening your entire upper body.
Therefore, water aerobics is a great exercise for senior citizens. Especially people with arthritis.
