It is called Shalabhasana or the locust yoga posture because the body and legs resemble a locust when it is performed.
Shalabhasana is one of the best yoga asanas to strengthen the muscles of the back. Those with severe back / arthritis pain problems should take this asana slowly, after performing preparatory asanas such as Makarasana and Jyestikasana.
Those with back problems can take the lobster posture before doing the lobster posture. Shalabhasana should be avoided if you are pregnant or if you had recent abdominal surgery.
1) Exhale and inhale, lift both legs from the waist keeping them straight at the knees. Keep the toes stretched back and continue to breathe normally.
2) Take care that the legs are straight or otherwise the tension in the desired organs is reduced and the desired results are lost. During practice, the chin should rest on the floor.
Yoga practices can make us increasingly sensitive to subtle sensations in the body. Paying attention and staying with finer sensations within the body is one of the surest ways to stabilize the wandering mind.
